Club Run to Redwings Horse Sanctuary
Cars accumulated at Park Hill car park on a wet Sunday
morning, umbrellas were the order of the day as 12 cars set off just after ten
in convoy through Somerleyton to St Olaves A143 turning left on the A143 towards
Yarmouth stopping off at Myhills Nurseries at Fritton for a quick look around
car boot.
On
again to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, the sleeping policemen were a bit of a
concern but we all negotiated them without any problems, having parked in
formation Geoff got the LCVC banner displayed. The weather at this time was
starting to brighten up and the rain had stopped. Through reception and look
around the stables and paddocks to see many happy four legged friends. A nice
cup of tea from the cafe and the children had a great time on the well-equipped
play area; all had a very pleasant time.
Andy & Natalie's Treasure Hunt
This was the 2nd and much drier attempt at
running this treasure hunt as some of you will already know.
Although it was a bit cloudy this time all went well. We had 18 vehicles
taking part and all seemed to enjoy the day.
The hunt was split into two parts with a
stop at Gorelston sea front for a cuppa and the chance to pick up valuable
points!
We ended up at Poppylands for a nice meal and a
pint where the winners were announced. Congratulations to Stuart, Becky and not
forgetting Rufus!
Many thanks to all of you who took part

East Anglian Transport Museum
Over the weekend of 26th & 27th April the museum held it's
annual "Steam & Vintage" weekend. It's become a tradition for out
club to form part of the display for this weekend. This year was
even more special because it tied in with the F.H.B.V.C . "Drive it
day".
On Sunday, "Drive it day" there were two classic vehicle runs which
both finished at the museum giving visitors over 100 vehicles to see. The
Norfolk Military Vehicle Club also put on an impressive display.

East Coast Pirates Show
On 10th May The East Coast Pirates held their first one day show
at Flixton Aviation Museum, near Bungay in Suffolk. The show was open to a wide
range of vehicles including of course our classics.
The weather was nice to us with bright sunshine all day so I
chose to take along my Chevrolet Camaro Convertible for it's first trip out this
year. There was a great turn out of cars through out the day along with some
motorcycles too.
All in all a great day out enjoyed by all.
Andy.
31st May
A run out to the Mid Suffolk Light Railway saw
16cars in the car park. Most left from the 3/4/5 Horse Shoes, North Cove, but 2
left from my place and they were two new cars to the club. A very nice Austin
Ascot with "dickey seat" owned by Paul Maulden and I have just bought
a 1955 Wolesley 4/44.
The journey to M.S.L.R. had almost no problems
apart from 3 of us waiting at Wortwell roundabout for Anita and john in their
"Peanut " Fiat 500. Anita had pulled the choke out with a hot engine
and had to restart the car. Fred had a calliper seize up on his Humber, but the
R.A.C. man managed to fix it for him in the car park.
Some went for lunch while the rest of us enjoyed
our picnics in the lovely sunshine. The museum had a nice tea room and shop. The
whole place is very tidy and the people very helpful. The exhibits are well
worth a look.
After lunch 10 cars made the trip to 100th bomber
group at Thorpe Abbotts. The cars looked really good against the back ground of
the airfield car park. The Control Tower was open and there was a good all round
view from the top. All of the Nissan huts were open but I really liked the
N.A.F.A. ( Or what ever the Yanks call it) very colourful with a stage at one
end and I would love to see a big band concert from the 40's there as it had
just the right atmosphere.
At about 4.30 we said our goodbyes and all headed
for home. I for one had a really nice day.
